What type of resources does the MTP Secondary program offer?
The Consultancy
Through the MTPS consultancy, teachers receive individualized professional development that focuses on the teacher's own classroom practices. The consultant observes teaching practice and provides objective, constructive guidance. The teacher can review, analyze and reflect on their own teaching via a secured internet connection.
The MTPS Consultancy consists of ongoing cycles of observation, reflection, and consultation based on teachers' own practice. |
The MTPS Website
The MTPS website has two purposes. Teachers have the opportunity to view their own video footage via a secured personal webpage and answer questions posed by their consultant based on this footage.
The website also offers an extensive collection of video tape in actual classroom settings that demonstrate high quality student-teacher interactions. |
Why is it a good idea?
- Teachers receive an individualized relationship focused on their own practice in their own classrooms.
- Through the observation of their practice, consultants provide resources, support, and feedback in a non-evaluative manner.
- MTP offers evidence-based practices that can be readily integrated into any curriculum.
- Improved teacher effectiveness will lead to more intentional teaching and student learning gains.
